Original OratoryOriginal Oratory allows students to explore a topic that is meaningful to themselves and deliver it in a 10 minute, memorized speech, with the goal of changing the audience's perspective of the world. Topics can range from the metaphysical, such as fear, to political advocacy, such as transgender rights. Speeches are graded on their use of emotional, logical and ethical appeals, as well as their delivery and originality. Students are limited only the number of quotes they can source and their time - the rest is free to their creativity. This event requires students to be self-motivated, as the topic stays the same the entire year and there is no right way to do an oratory - the student must determine what works with their speaking style.
